It's here! Fourth of July Celebration kicks off

A friendly welcome from Mayor Zettervall

July 4, 2019

Mayor Richard Zettervall

Welcome to all who attend Creswell's July 4th Independence Day Celebration. I hope that you enjoy your time here. On this day, Creswell's population typically triples to near 15,000. Creswell is called "The Friendly City" for good reason, as we roll out the welcome mat to showcase our wonderful little city and vibrant surrounding community.

The day begins with a fantastic pancake breakfast at 7 a.m. at Harry Holt Memorial Park, one block north of Oregon Avenue on North 5th Street. Just follow the crowds and enjoy breakfast and the rest of your day in Creswell.

The showcase event of the morning is the fantastic Fourth of July Independence Day Parade. Our parade is one of the largest in Oregon and the largest in Lane County. The parade begins with a flyover by EAA Young Eagles pilots at 11 a.m., and be sure to wave to your city, county and state elected officials at the beginning of the parade.

There are many fun happenings during the day. Some of the highlights include the Firecracker Vintage Car Show at Emerald Valley Golf & Resort, with live music, food and beverages. There will be an Open House of the Old Schoolhouse at South 2nd and D Streets. This is the oldest building in Creswell and is under restoration.

If you missed the pancake breakfast, vendors will be open in Holt Park and several of Creswell's businesses will be open to help you enjoy your day. They would greatly appreciate your patronage.

The day concludes at dusk with an outstanding fireworks show at Creswell High School. The Chamber of Commerce has done an excellent job putting on the fireworks show and deserves our thanks.

It is my hope that everyone who comes to Creswell to celebrate the Fourth of July with us has a lot of fun, and leaves with the feeling that Creswell truly is "The Friendly City."
