Master Sergeant Kenneth Thomas visits PH schools

From left is Petty Officer Second Class Curtis Markle, Master Sergeant Ken Thomas and Petty Officer First Class Louis Gaines, who visited Pleasant Hill schools last Friday during the Annual Veterans Recognition Assembly.

On Friday, Nov. 9, over 600 students and faculty of Pleasant Hill Middle and High School held their Annual Veterans Recognition Assembly, where they honored World War II Rosie the Riveters, active duty military members and veterans from World War II, Korean, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan Wars.

The main speaker was retired Army Master Sergeant Kenneth Thomas, a member of Lane County Voiture 80 of the Forty and Eight - an International Veterans organization that was formed in 1920 by a group of World War I veterans in Philadelphia.
