Paul James Guynes - March 5, 1950 – Oct. 9, 2018

Paul James Guynes, of Creswell, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 9, 2018.

He was born March 5, 1950 in Oakdale, Calif. to parents Paul and Margaret (Garber) Guynes.

Paul graduated from Chino High School in 1968. He married Nanci (Overstreet) Powell in 1969 and they were married for 14 years. He then married Terri Gillespie on Oct. 8, 1983 in Creswell.

In Paul's early years, he worked as a logger and was a professional boxer from 1969-80. He also worked for EL-JAY as a welder fitter for over 20 years. Paul then became a co-owner of an ornamental iron business making gates, fences and spiral staircases. He finished his career working for JCI. Paul; he was very artistic working with paints, making iron sculptures and furniture.

He rode with the motorcycle ministry, volunteering many hours ministering to homeless vets, less fortunate people at homeless camps and prisons. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, riding horses and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed history and eating hot peppers. The family could not find a pepper that was hot enough for him. But what Paul loved most of all was spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends. He was a member of the Bikers for Christ and Creswell Faith Center.

Paul was awarded three golden glove titles as an amateur boxer.

Paul is survived by his wife, Terri Guynes; daughter, Deana (John) Rivera of Eugene; son, Robert Guynes of Cottage Grove; son, Jimi Guynes of Creswell; grandsons, Jesse-Lee Bray and Jaden-Lee Guynes; and granddaughters, Samantha Heine and Rockelle Guynes.

Paul is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Keith and Richard Guynes.

A celebration of life and reception will be held at the Creswell Faith Center, Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018 at 11 a.m.
