The Fourth of July is just a few weeks away, so now is the time to sign up to participate in Creswell's Annual Fourth of July Parade.

The deadline for parade entries is Friday, June 22. Due to insurance and other added costs, the Creswell Chamber of Commerce is charging for parade entries. The cost for individuals or nonprofit groups to participate in the parade is $10. The cost for commercial entries is $25.

All participants can register online by going to the Creswell Chamber of Commerce website: http://www.creswellchamber.com or by calling 541-895-4398. The chamber office is located at 95 W. Oregon Ave. in Creswell. The Parade begins at 11 a.m. and participants are asked to arrive at Creswell High School by 10 a.m.

The deadline for Holt Park food vendor sign-ups is Friday, June 15. Rates and registration forms are available on the Chamber of Commerce website: http://www.creswellchamber.com, under vendor application. The deadline for all non-vendor booth space at Holt Park is June 25 and applications are also available on the Chamber website.

Plans for all events happening during the Fourth of July are moving along nicely.

Once again, the Fourth of July festivities will kickoff with the annual pancake breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. at Holt Park. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for kids ages six to 12, and no cost for children under six.

This year, the Creswell Chamber of Commerce is adding a new event to an already fun-packed day of activities. The Firecracker Vintage Car Show will take place in Emerald Valley Golf & Resort's south parking lot. The cost for car enthusiasts to participate in the car show is $25 for show and parade participation or $20 for car show entry alone.

The Firecracker Vintage Car Show includes a performance by The Men From S.U.R.F. from 1 to 4 p.m. There will also be a beer garden. Barbecued chicken, corn on the cob, etc. will be sold as well.

Entertainment at Holt Park includes the "Hawaiian Elvis," David Lomond performing from 1:15 to 2 p.m. and RichieG & MA Beat performing from 2 to 5 p.m.

Miss Central Valley Emma Wampler will sing the National Anthem on the main stage following the parade and Miss Linn Benton Danielle Cormier will twirl the baton. Creswell's Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 31 will be conducting its Young Eagles flights at the EAA clubhouse at Hobby Field. Young people ages 8 to 17 get a chance experience flying in an airplane with a member of the EAA at no cost. Each pilot volunteers their time and aircraft so that flights can be provided free of charge for interested young people.

Those interested in participating in the Young Eagles flights are asked to come by the EAA hangar at 10 a.m. on July 4 to preregister. Young Eagle flights begin after the parade and registration for those wishing to participate ends at 2 p.m.
