Dean Howard kept Harrisburg hitters off-balance as the Bulldogs earned a 3-2 victory over the Eagles.

Dean Howard pitched a no-hitter as the Bulldogs earned a 3-2 baseball victory over visiting

Harrisburg on May 1.

Howard gave up two unearned runs, struck out 10, walked eight and hit one batter with the pitch.

"He threw a really good game," said Coach Chris Whitmore.

Howard also went 1-for- 1 from the plate, with an RBI and two runs. Jack Callahan went 1-for- 3

with an RBI; Cade Apo and Dallton Dewey each went 2-for- 3; Andrew Larrison went 1-for- 1;

Colton White went 1-for- 3; and Dylan Miller scored.

As catcher, White, with his pitcher's arm, "kept runners in check and kept a lot of stuff in front

of him," Whitmore said.

On April 30, the Dawgs fell 4-16 in six innings in a makeup game at Pleasant Hill – where

Creswell was the home team; the game moved to P-Hill since Creswell's field was unplayable.

The score was 0-0 at the top of the third, when the seventh-ranked Billies scored eight, then

added two more in the fourth.

Creswell managed to post four in the bottom of the fourth. "We put a good little rally together,"

Whitmore said. But after that it, was all Billies.

White pitched the first 2 2/3 innings, giving up eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, striking

out four and walking four.

Callahan pitched one-third inning, giving up two earned runs on two hits and walking four.

Miller pitched two innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit, striking out one and

walking one.

Dewey pitched the final inning, giving up four earned runs on four hits and striking out two.

Apo went 2-for- 2 and scored; Callahan and Larrison each went 1-for- 2 with an RBI; Howard

went 1-for- 2 and scored; Dawson Sharkey went 1-for- 3 with an RBI and a run; White went 1-

for-3 and scored; and Jarek Hodge had an RBI.

"Pleasant Hill's a good team; they made us work for our runs," Whitmore said.

In a nonleague game on May 2, Creswell shut out host Elkton 15-0 in five innings.

Apo was one out away from pitching a no-hitter, giving up just one hit, striking out five and

walking one.

"We had two outs in the bottom of the fifth when their lead-off hitter hit Cade's second pitch

down the line to left field for a base hit," Whitmore said, "but Cade was right on it from the get-

go."

The Dawgs smacked 19 hits.

White went 2-for- 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run; Dewey went 2-for- 2 with a double, an

RBI and three runs; Miller went 4-for- 4 with an RBI and two runs; Sharkey went 3-for- 4 with

three RBIs and a run; Callahan went 2-for- 4 with two RBIs and two runs; Howard went 1-for- 3

with two RBIs and a run; Hodge went 1-for- 2 with three runs; Apo went 2-for- 4 with two RBIs

and a run; and Avery Wells went 2-for- 3 with an RBI and a run.

"It was great to actually have some success as a team," Whitmore said.

Out of contention for league playoffs, the Bulldogs' season wraps with Friday's Senior Night

game.
