Yates wins three events

Josh Yates proved a triple threat for the Bulldogs, winning the shot put at 39-02, the discus with a throw of 112-01 and the javelin at 135-0 to lead the Creswell boys to their third-place finish at the PacWest/Tri-Rivers at East Linn track and field meet, held April 5.

Haley Anderson won the 200 in 29.06h and Hannah Bettis won the 300m hurdles in a personal-best 53.81h to help the Creswell girls place fourth.

Also scoring for the boys at East Linn, Christian Tucker placed second in the 3000 in 9:47h, Gauge Smith was second in the 100 in 11.98h, Judson Briggs was third in 12.05h and Nick Bronson was fifth in 12.15h; Smith was third in the 200 in 24.34h, Bronson was fourth in 24.44h and Briggs was fifth in 24.88; and Grant Marshall was fourth in the 1500 in 4:57.10h and third in the triple jump at 33-02.

Ben Vaughn and Devin Schrader tied for fourth in the pole vault at 7-06; the 4x100m relay team of Zach Culp, Bronson, Smith and Andrew Cox placed second in 46.85h; and the 4x400m relay team of Marshall, Schrader, Zach Schmidt and Tucker placed fifth in 4:29.0h

Also scoring, Shelby Lamm placed second in the 200 in 29.39h; Isabel Ochoa was third in the 400 at 1:09.60h, Natalie Campbell was fourth in 1:11.13h and Freya DeMasters was fifth in 1:13.13h; Addison Werner was third in the 100 in 18.25h and Bettis was fourth in 20.29h; and Alax Watt was fourth in the shot put at 25-05.

The 4x100m relay team of Anderson, Lamm, Werner and Campbell placed fourth in 55.68h; the 4x400m relay team of Anderson, Lamm, Werner and Kristina Gonda placed fourth in 4:51.70h, and the team of Katie Campbell, Natalie Campbell, DeMasters and Ruby Quiroz-Ariza placed fifth in 5:07.60h.

At the Junction City Invitational on April 8, Creswell’s boys placed eighth and the girls placed ninth, with Alyssa DuFault tying for first place in the high jump at 4-10.

For the boys, Tucker placed fourth in the 1500 in 4:35.51a, Smith was sixth in the 100 in 12.53a, the 4x100m relay team was sixth in 49.60a and the 4x100m relay team was sixth in 49.60a, 4x400m relay team was seventh in 4:02.80a.

Yates was sixth in the javelin at 133-0.5, and seventh in the shot, at 39-03 and the discus, at 111-02; Calvin Tharp-Jackson was eighth in the 800 in a personal-best 57.62a; and Marshall was eighth in the triple jump at a personal-best 34-09.25.

For the girls, Cali Allen placed second in the javelin at 120-6 and sixth in the 100m hurdles in 19.08a, Bettis was fourth in the 300m hurdles in 56.41a, Natalie Campbell was fourth in the long jump at 15-01.25, the 4x400m relay team was fourth in 4:49.88a, Lamm was eighth in the 200 in 30.77a and DeMasters was eighth in the 400 in a personal-best 1:09.05a.

The Bulldogs travel to Glide this week for the Mountain Valley Conference meet opener.
