Two Lady Dawgs earn All-State Volleyball nods

Two Creswell Lady Bulldogs were among the elite players honored when 2017 3A All-State Volleyball teams were announced last week. Senior outside hitter Cassie Cunningham was named to the First Team, while junior setter/right side hitter Bailey Howell was named to the Third Team.

Breana Edwards, a senior middle blocker/outside hitter from Rainier and Caroline McMahon, a junior outside hitter from Cascade Christian were named 3A State Co-Player of the Year.

Joining Edwards, McMahon and Cunningham on the 3A All-State First Team were Rebeka Preston, a senior from Santiam Christian; Presley Jensen, a senior from Vale; Allison Winter, a senior from Cascade Christian; and Sydney Brown, a senior from Salem Academy.

Named to the Second Team were McKenna Wilson, a senior from Coquille; Tessa McFetridge, a senior from Vale; Aubrey Kievit, a junior from Cascade Christian; Simone Gordon, a junior from Portland Christian; Leah Boyer, a senior from Santiam Christian; Rhiannon McKinley, a senior from Coquille; and Paige Boles, a senior from Salem Academy.

Joining Howell on the Third Team were Kalea Salang, a junior from Blanchet Catholic; Kalina Rojas, a senior from Dayton; Daija Smith, a senior from Scio; Alyssa Vaughn, a senior from Cascade Christian; Madison Wobig, a senior from Santiam Christian; and Maxine Matheson-Lieber, a sophomore from Oregon Episcopal School.

Rob Klecker, head coach of the state champion Cascade Christian Challengers was the unanimous selection as 3A State Coach of the Year.
