Dawgs win five events at La Pine league meet

The Bulldogs won five events and many athletes – both scoring and non-scoring – recorded personal or seasonal bests as Creswell competed in a league track and field meet with Pleasant Hill and host La Pine on April 26. Gilchrist also participated.

For the Creswell girls, the 4x400m relay team of Hannah Bettis, Addison Werner, Freya DeMasters and Shelby Lamm won in 4:48.68a; Lamm won the 200m in a personal-best 28.55a, Garcia won the 3000m in 16.58.72a and Cali Allen won the javelin at 114-10.

For the Bulldog boys, Nick Bronson won the 300m intermediate hurdles in a personal-best 44.55a.

In other scoring finishes for the girls, Lamm placed fourth in the 100m in a season’s-best 14.03a; Garcia placed fifth in the 800m in 3:30.07a; Werner placed second in the 100m hurdles in a season’s-best 13.33a; Bettis placed second in the 300m hurdles in 52.65a and third in the 100m hurdles in a personal-best 18.33a; Allen placed fourth in the 100m hurdles in 18.58a; and DeMasters placed third in the 400m in 1:12.26a and third in the 800m in 3:06.36a.

Also scoring for the boys, Bronson placed second in the 110m high hurdles in a personal-best 17.05a; Grant Marshall placed second in the 1500m in 4:55.23a and third in the 800m in 2:24.81a; Zach Culp placed second in the long jump at 17-94; and Andrew Cox placed second in the triple jump at a personal-best 32-06 and fifth in the long jump at 17-02.5.

Chance Bellew placed third in the 300m hurdles in a personal-best 49.83a while Miguel Lopez placed fourth in a personal-best 53.88a; Jackson Velarde placed second in the 3000m in 14:05.26a; the 4x400m relay team of Brian Clowers, Marshall, Lopez and Josiah Lee placed third in 4:19.21a; and Lee placed fourth in the 1500m in 5:25.82a and fifth in the 800m in 2:33.86a.

“This meet was a lot of fun,” said Creswell Head Coach Jonathan Ferguson. “We have a very competitive team and getting to compete against some of the best teams in the league really brings that out.”
