Smathers named to All-State girls’ soccer team

Allison Smathers, a junior midfielder with the Creswell Bulldogs girls’ soccer team, has been named to the 2017 OSAA 3A/2A/1A Girls’ Soccer First Team All-State. She is the only Lady Dawg to receive All-State honors this year.

Laura Staropoli of Westside Christian was named 3A/2A/1A State Player of the Year, while Ally Priest of Catlin Gabel was named Goalkeeper of the Year.

Joining Staropoli, Priest and Smathers on the All-State First Team are Megan Ruoff, Joanna Cloutier, Stephanie Finley and Annika Lovestrand of Oregon Episcopal School; Annika Holliday of Catlin Gabel; Aspen Trujillo of Pleasant Hill; Skylar Wightman of Riverside; and Meghan Michels of St. Mary’s.

Named to the All-State Second Team were Sara Klott of St. Mary’s; Ann Louise Naito, Sophie Wand and Emma Sadle of Catlin Gabel; Kiely Griffin of Western Mennonite/Perrydale; Emily Stephens of Cascade Christian; Rebecca Peasley of Pleasant Hill; Morgan Croxford of Amity; Alex Conley of Lakeview; and Briana Anaya of Blanchet Catholic.

Justan Wolvert, head coach of Oregon Episcopal School, was named 3A/2A/1A State Coach of the Year.
