Smathers is soccer co-POY, six are All-League

Junior midfielder Allison Smathers was named co-Player of the Year and five of her fellow Creswell Lady Bulldogs were also honored when 3A/2A/1A Special District 4 2017 All-League teams were announced recently.

Smathers shared co-Player of the Year honors with sophomore Aspen Trujillo of Pleasant Hill. Creswell’s junior defender Hannah Bettis was also named to the First Team; junior defender Kelsey Kuhnhausen, senior forward Haley Anderson and junior goalkeeper Tabetha Donovan were named to the Second Team; and senior defender/midfielder Cali Allen and freshman defender Anna Dahl received Honorable Mention.

Joining Smathers and Trujillo on the Special District 4 First Team are senior Amanda Whetten of Pleasant Hill, senior Pleasant Hill Julia Hammond, sophomore Alicia Duchateau of Pleasant Hill, sophomore Trinity Beck of Santiam Christian, freshman Audrey Miller of Santiam Christian, junior Makenna David of Santiam Christian, sophomore Allie Crowell of Central Linn and senior goalkeeper Rebecca Peasley of Pleasant Hill.

Joining Kuhnhausen, Anderson and Donovan on the Second Team are senior Antigonie Blas of Pleasant Hill, senior Kari Robbins of Pleasant Hill, senior Sarah Peasley of Pleasant Hill, senior Savannah Black of Santiam Christian, senior Teasag Tuepker of Santiam Christian, senior Sydney Bright of La Pine, junior Jessica Neal of Central Linn, senior Lalli Figueroa of Central Linn, junior goalkeeper Evie Toruno of La Pine.

Receiving Honorable Mention along with Allen and Dahl are freshman Sailor Allman of Santiam Christian, senior Tommi Villers of Santiam Christian, junior Cheyenne Saul of La Pine, senior Angela Cardonia of La Pine, senior goalkeeper Kalli Ropp of Santiam Christian and senior goalkeeper Anni Baney of Central Linn.

Kristine Dunne, head coach of the Pleasant Hill Billies, was named Special District 4 Coach of the Year.
