Don R. Betz

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 5, at Creswell Faith Center for Don R. Betz, of Creswell, who died Feb. 28, 2010, of renal failure. He was 84.

He was born Dec. 17, 1925 in Grand Island, Neb. to Adolph and Ruth Fairbanks Betz. He married Katherine Ann Ester on Jan. 18, 1974, in Eugene, Ore.

He graduated from high school in Nebraska prior to joining the U.S. Navy, in which he served during World War II, attaining the rank of WT second class.

He owned Mr. Fish & Chips on Franklin Blvd, in Eugene, and retired from Betz Chevrolet Pontiac Oldsmobile in Cottage Grove.

He is survived by: his wife Kay, of Creswell; his daughter Theresa Collucci and her husband Jim, of Hyannis, Mass.; granddaughter Nicole Collucci and grandson Vincent Collucci, both of Hyannis; and his sister Charlotte Royster, a California resident.

He will be buried at Creswell Pioneer Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to Creswell Health and Rehabilitation Center, 736 S. Second St., Creswell, OR 97426.

England's Creswell Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
