Sally Schwader's watercolor, "The Plein Air Painter," depicts Brooks Hickerson, founder of Plein Air Eugene-Springfield and one of the artists who painted their impressions of the Creswell structure that served successively as a schoolhouse, clubhouse, community meeting place and volunteer library from 1874 through early 2006.

More than 200 patrons came to the Creswell Library on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 27, not only to view the impressive demonstration of local artistic talent on display at the library's annual art show, but also to partake of birthday cake to celebrate the library's fourth year in its current location.

Attendees saw works by 32 adult and 25 youth artists, mostly Creswell area residents, with a smattering from locations such as Cottage Grove, Eugene and Springfield.

The multi-media, non-juried show featured oils, watercolors, collages, un-manipulated and manipulated digital photography in both color and black and white, fused and slumped glass, pencil, soft sculpture, alabaster and granite sculpture and pine needle/raffia basketry.

The show may be viewed during normal library hours through March.
