Charles "Charlie Tuna" McMackins III

Charles "Charlie Tuna" McMackins III of Creswell died Jan. 24, 2010 of congestive heart failure complications. He was 74.

He was born Oct. 29, 1935 in Spokane, Wash. to Charles II and Frances Jones McMackins. He married Evanell Williams in 1965 in California. They later divorced. He married June Newen in 1972 in Tacoma, Wash. They later divorced. In 2002, he married Bertha Maack in Tacoma.

He served in the United States Navy on active duty from Dec. 1952 –1957, and in the reserves until 1996.

His work experience was varied, and included working as a longshoreman in Washington State and on the airport mail crew.

He is survived by: his wife, Bertha McMackins of Puyallup, Wash.; a daughter, Rayanna Rice of Creswell; two sons, Farrell and Roman McMackins, both of San Diego, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service is pending. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service of Springfield is in charge of arrangements.
