The 8K/5K run and all-ages family walk, which begins and ends at the park, is co-hosted by Creswell Kiwanis and Creswell Running Club as a benefit for the Kiwanis Club's children's projects. Entry fees and sponsor contributions this year netted an estimated $3,700, which has been earmarked for Creswell Clubhouse and the bark trail, according to Robertson, whose co-directors for the race were Al Bennett and Shawn Hittenberger.

Haiti benefit concert raises $2,750
To assist with those needs, 100 percent of the money raised during the benefit concert will be donated directly to Doctors Without Borders, Green told the audience. The $2,750-plus raised included matching funds provided by an anonymous donor, who volunteered to match any checks written by concert attendees for between $50 and $500.

Four firefighting agencies respond to field fire north of Creswell
Firefighters were able to contain the fire, which was called in at 2:16 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13, to a few acres, but their efforts to move equipment on site to douse the flames were hampered by mounds of concrete debris that had been scattered over much of the property.

An award for the best-decorated vehicle was awarded to the Blain family, whose Ford Expedition was decked out in red, black and white in honor of the CHS Bulldogs, complete with a football field mat and a yellow goalpost mounted on the rear fender and door.
