NakD Bean brings country coffee, CBD to Creswell

Fortune favors the bold. Drink bold. Be bold. Get NakD.

That’s the motto for NakD Bean, Creswell’s new espresso shop, located next to the AM/PM at 285 E. Oregon Ave. The shop is officially open for business.

Jessica Hengler, general manager, said that the shop was ready to open in April, but they found they had to install a mop sink for the business, which meant the acquisition of more permits and more contracting, hence the delay.

Now up and running, the shop offers Mo’St Bakery products and Bonnie & Clyde pastries. The shop also uses Wandering Goat coffee beans for all their drinks. They sell wraps, pasta salad, breads and pastries, in addition to their lengthy coffee menu.

NakD Bean also offers a 50 percent discount on all drinks to veterans.

Hengler, 28, of Cottage Grove, said she also hopes to help bring recreational marijuana to Creswell. In fact, Hengler filed a citizen ballot initiative petition in May, to be placed on the November 2017 ballot.

There is a petition at the counter where registered voters in Creswell can sign if they wish to see marijuana facilities in the city.

As it stands, their shop currently features cannabidiol, or CBD, which is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce any psychoactive effects and is found to be effective for treating inflammation, pain, anxiety and muscle spasms, among other conditions, medical research reports.

NakD Bean also has a mini library room — a necessity, Hengler said — where customers can take a seat on their comfortable leather chairs, sip some coffee and get lost in a good book.

Co-owners Mike Arnold and PJ Martinez have offices in the same building, and Mike loves coffee “probably more than he should,” Hengler said, laughing. The expansion only made sense — lots of space and lots of love for coffee!

Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. As the staff grows, Hengler said, the hours will extend to weekends and maybe evenings.

You can find them on Facebook @NakD Bean, on Instagram @NakDBeanCoffee as well as on Google and Yelp.
