Creswell High School’s returning soccer players and incoming freshmen competed hard during the annual Junction City Tournament on June 3 and 4.
The always competitive tournament, hosted by the 4A Junction City Tigers, includes boys’ and girls’ teams up to the 5A/6A level. Teams are divided into two divisions, Gold for more experienced/advanced players, and Silver for less experienced teams. The divisions are not organized according to school size.
In the boys’ competition at this year’s JC Tourney, 5A Willamette won the Gold division while 4A Brookings Harbor won the Silver division.
5A Churchill dominated the girls’ competition, winning both the Gold and Silver divisions.
CHS coaches say the tournament gives players who intend to play soccer in the fall to get some experience playing together, test their competitiveness against other area teams and ramp up their skills before the season opens in September.
