Carolyn Denese Metcalf, 77, died on June 30, 2017. Born March 2, 1940 in Crossroads, Calif., she was the daughter of Charles and Helen (Anderson) Sprague.
She grew up in Maine and was the oldest of eight children: Barbara MacDonald, Larry Sprague, Evelyn Wyman, Chuck Sprague, John Blowers, Melva Gernhardt and David Blowers.
She first lived in Oregon in the early 1960s and lost her ’55 Chevy in the Columbus Day Storm. When she returned home to Maine, she married her husband, Clyde, on July 31,1964. They moved to Oregon in 1979. Clyde passed away in May 2017. They enjoyed 52 years of marriage.
She worked in the sewing industry and was a customer service rep in the craft and hobby business for many years. She loved her family more than anything and enjoyed gardening, quilting, camping and writing.
She was a longtime member of the Creswell Church of Christ and was actively involved in the prayer team, newcomer ministry, and enjoyed just being with her church family.
She is survived by son Dwayne (Chrissy) Metcalf of Salem; daughter Holly (Michael) Willeford of Creswell; grandchildren Jennine, Jon, Bekah, Josh, Kayla, Jared, Jacob and Emma; and five great-grandchildren.
